FAQs:

Q: How is the work done?

A: To properly Refinish, Re-dye, Re-stain, Recolor, and in some cases Repair your Leather goods the first step is to prepare your leather with very strong ‘to the industry only’ chemicals.  The initial steps of all Leather Re-dye, Leather Refinish, Leather Re-staining, and some Leather Repairs start with the extended use of these ‘to the Industry only’ Chemicals… and for up to several hours in preparing the leather We use these chemicals to prepare the surface and give a slight ‘drying out’ to the leather so as to create a ‘thirst’ for a new finish in the Leather.  As necessary and effective as these very strong ‘preparation’ chemicals are to producing the professional quality job you need they dissipate 100% and leave no residual residues on or in your leather. We mask off any and all parts of your leather that isn’t to be refinished (fabric, wood, decretive trims, etc.) use one of our standard most popular Leather dye/finish colors or make the custom color of your choice and hand rub in several coats.  Making sure we find and dye/finish all those little hard to get to nooks and crannies. For the final steps we chemically adjust the shine of the finish to your choice ranging from a dead flat (like a flat wall) to a high gloss or ‘patent leather’, what ever you like, and then apply enough coats to remove any evidence of our ‘hand work’

Q: How long does it take to repair my leather?

A: Although every job is different more often than not the repairs you need can be done ‘on site’ in your home, office and completed in from an hour or so to one business day. When the scope of the repair it too great to be successfully completed ‘on site’ then the repairs needed are done in our Leather Repair, Leather Dyeing, Leather Re-dyeing, Leather Re-Coloring, Leather Staining, Leather Refinishing, Leather Cleaning, and , Leather Restoration shop.Q: How long does it take to Refinish, Recolor, Re-dye, Re-stain your Leather?A: The/A real job takes about 5 to 7 working days including ‘cure time’… or about one week. With chemical preparation, protecting non leather areas, correct application of the dyes and finishes combined with the required molecular cure times all add up to just about 5 to 7 working days.  We can (in certain circumstances) expedite the process by 1 or 2 days with out compromising the quality of the work/finish but as a general rule 5 to 7 working days is the time required to produce the job you need and are you’re looking for.

Q: Can Re-finishing of my leather goods be done ‘in my home or place of business’?

A: Years and years of experience (since 1989) and 32,000+ successfully completed jobs (and counting) tells us that, yes, there can be a small amount of ‘Re-Dying/Refinishing done in your home or place of business but for the ‘real deal’ both you and your leather furniture are best served by having the work done in our Leather Repair, Leather Dyeing, Leather Re-dyeing, Leather Re-Coloring, Leather Staining, Leather Refinishing, Leather Cleaning, and , Leather Restoration shop. Why?…to properly Re-finish, Re-dye, Re-stain, Re-color, and in some cases Repair your Leather goods the first step is to prepare the leather with very strong ‘to the industry only’ chemicals.  Quite frankly the chemicals we use are not the chemicals I want in my home or office and I’m going to assume you don’t want them in your home either.

Q: Can I really re-dye or even change the color of my leather furniture (goods)?

A: Yes, we can  Re-Dye, Re-Finish, Refresh, Re-Stain your leather goods to the original color, one of our most popular colors, or the custom color and finish of your choice.

Q: What color can I change it to?

A: There are a few guidelines but for the most part, depending on which type of dyeing we use, your imagination is pretty much the only definition of your limitations. Short answer?…Just about anything.Q: Does it have to be the same color?A: No, we can make your leather just about any color or custom color/finish you would like to have it…Have you seen something in a Magazine? or perhaps some where else? same the picture and lets see what we can do!

Q: Do we have to dye it darker?

A: No, not in most cases, there are, of course, always exceptions to ‘every rule’ but in most cases you don’t have to dye your leather darker.

Q: What if we want to dye our leather a lighter color?

A: Great question!  Almost always the answer is :yes” you can make your leather a lighter color.  Once again it depends on the style and type of dye used and the desired finish, but yes, it is quite common to make leather finish lighter that it was ‘before’

Q: How shiny is my leather going to be? Can I change the way it ‘was’ if I want to?

A: Although leather likes to ‘take’ dyes and finishes in certain ways we can and do have the ability to manipulate the sheen to what ever you would like to have.

Q: Will it/does it ‘rub off? (the new finish that is)?

A: No.  The new finish will not ‘rub off’.  We only use the original leather dye’s and finishes are used by the original producers of leather and no, they will not/ do not rub off.  The new finish is as hardy as the original finish and in some cases more hardy.

Q: Will it change the feel of the leather:  Will the leather feel the same”?

A: Good question.  Although every situation can be a bit different the general rule is that when your leather is refinished it should feel very close, if not exactly the same as it did when it was new.Q: How long will it last?A: Another good question.  Since we use only the original factory dye’s and finishes the new finish should have a life span close to the same as the original factory finish.  In fact depending on the use your leather sees, children, dogs, cats, etc. the new finish will often outlast the original factory finish.
